“We would never have undertaken this project without the Partnership’s guidance. Now we can offer ten new units of affordable housing with supportive programming to help residents take their next steps.”
Chris Fearing, Executive Director for St. Vincent de Paul, Wisconsin Dells
In 2012, the Partnership was approached by a coalition consisting of several nonprofits, the school board and elected officials in Wisconsin Dells. They wanted to address affordable housing issues in their community. The coalition had determined that they had a large number of families living in the community who were not able to afford housing working full time at minimum wage jobs.
As a community depending on tourists, many jobs were available, but were either seasonal or low paying. Nonprofits in the area wanted to construct new housing that would provide affordable units and supportive services so that households could have stable housing and not be required to live in motels. While the nonprofits provided a broad range of services that could be offered to the families, they requested assistance from the Partnership in the development and construction of the new units.
The project was completed in 2014 and now provides housing to ten families.
