Bill Perkins, WPHD founder, has passed away…

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our founder and affordable housing champion, Bill Perkins. Bill founded Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development in 1985 with the help of Governor Tony Earl, and he served as its executive director for 28 years. Bill’s passion, love, and drive for helping “the little guy” was summed up in the Partnership and its mission. Even today we owe our ethos of “everyone deserves a home” to Bill’s vision and drive.

Bill was also a founding member of the Wisconsin Collaborative for Affordable Housing, assisting with the planning of A Home for Everyone Conference from its inception until his retirement. At the 2008 conference, Bill was a recipient of the Charles M. Hill, Sr. Award for Housing Excellence. The conference is a testament to Bill’s belief that we all do better when we work together, learn from one another, and collaborate.

As our name indicates, Bill worked in partnership with allies across the nation, internationally, and through all sectors of the housing industry. His loss will be felt far and wide, but his presence and entrepreneurial spirit will always be felt at WPHD as we push forward in the ever-changing landscape of affordable housing.

You may find Bill’s full obituary posted here.

Sincerely,

Todd Mandel, Executive Director
