Resources for Communities

We are changing the way people think about affordable housing and strong neighborhoods.

WPHD believes that each community is unique–housing needs vary across our state. Communities can use local, state and community data to determine the affordable housing needs in their community.

The National Low Income Housing Coalition does research and provides a lot of information about the need for affordable housing. Their website is www.nlihc.org. Their work includes publishing the annual “housing wage” and identifying the shortage of affordable housing in communities across the nation. They have fact sheets for each congressional district and links to other research. They provide timely updates about affordable housing policy and current federal budget issues.

WPHD staff understands how to find and use data to analyze local affordable housing needs. This can include data and analysis to identify the types of housing a community might need. It can also include employer surveys to determine needs for those employed in the community. Contact us if you are interested in getting more information!
